AI Engineering Intern

ABOUT APIMATICAPIMatic turns OpenAPI specs into complete developer experiences — SDKs, documentation, sandboxes, and Context Plugins. Context Plugins are AI-readable API context files that load into tools like Cursor, Claude Code, and GitHub Copilot, enabling accurate, hallucination-free integrations. Contextmatic, our VS Code / Cursor extension, lets any developer discover and load a Context Plugin for any API in a growing catalogue.

This internship sits at the intersection of engineering, developer relations, and content — a hands-on role that ships real things to real developers.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

1- Agentic Application Engineering
Build functional sample applications that integrate real-world APIs using AI-assisted, agentic development workflows. Use tools like Cursor and Claude Code alongside Context Plugins to demonstrate fast, accurate API integration end-to-end. Iterate on sample apps based on developer feedback and community engagement data.

2- Automation & Pipeline Engineering
Build and maintain GitHub Actions workflows to automate recurring pipeline tasks. Support the development and operation of an automated API crawler — scheduling runs, handling failures, and improving reliability. Write scripts to streamline repetitive engineering tasks across the team's workflows.

3- API Research & Curation
Triage and lightly fix OpenAPI specs to ensure they meet generation standards. Maintain and update API catalogue entries as the pipeline evolves.

4- Technical Content & Developer Posts
Write developer-facing posts and use-case articles to accompany each API integration — targeting platforms like Dev.to, Hashnode, and the APIMatic blog. Produce short-form research writeups covering learnings from API and integration work. Optimise content for organic developer discovery through relevant search queries.

5- Community Seeding & Developer Engagement
Seed developer content across community platforms — Reddit, X, LinkedIn, and Discord developer servers. Participate in live developer sessions: integration walkthroughs, debugging demos, and community Q&A. Monitor and respond to community engagement to build developer trust and gather product feedback.

6- Metrics & Observability
Instrument and track engagement metrics on published content and catalogue listings. Report on what is working — which APIs, posts, and channels drive the most developer interest. Use data to inform prioritisation of future API curation and content efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required
Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. Comfortable writing and reading code in at least one language — .Net, Python, JavaScript / TypeScript, or similar. Familiar with REST APIs and JSON; able to navigate and understand an API spec. Strong written English — you will produce developer-facing content regularly. Self-directed learner who can ramp up on unfamiliar tools and APIs independently.

Nice to Have
Familiarity with GitHub Actions or other CI/CD automation tools. Experience using AI coding assistants — Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar. Familiarity with OpenAPI / Swagger specifications. Prior technical writing — blog posts, tutorials, or documentation. Active presence in developer communities on Reddit, Discord, X, or LinkedIn. Exposure to developer tooling, API platforms, or developer experience (DX) work.
