Growth Product Manager
About APIMatic
APIMatic, through its Code Generation product coupled with APIMatic Developer Experience Portal and APIMatic OpenAPI Linter, enables enterprises to document their API using OpenAPI, validate and lint it, and then create SDKs. Through our automatic solution, enterprises can cut down time for their teams and API consumers
APIMatic's free tools are used in 200+ countries, and its paid solutions are deployed by prominent Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies. And we're still growing! APIMatic, headquartered in New Zealand with teams in Auckland, North America, and Islamabad, is rapidly expanding its global presence.
About This Role
We're hiring our first Growth Product Manager to systematically improve how developers move through APIMatic's user journey from signup to activation to paid conversion.
This is a pure growth role focused on moving key metrics: signup conversion, activation rate, free-to-paid conversion, and retention. You'll design, ship, and analyze A/B tests across the entire user journey, using data-driven insights to identify and optimize leverage points in our funnel.
You'll report to a Technical Product Manager and work cross-functionally with Engineering, Marketing, Customer Success, and Sales. Your primary focus is driving growth metrics through rigorous experimentation.
What You'll Own
1. Signup Conversion Rate
- Run experiments on signup flows: reduce friction, test form fields, optimize CTAs
- A/B test website landing page variations for different user personas
- Collaborate with Marketing on qualified traffic sources: you optimize conversion, they own traffic generation
2. Activation Rate (Signup to First Value)
- Define and instrument activation metrics: What's "first value" for APIMatic developers?
- Design and test onboarding experiments: product tours, quick-start guides, template APIs
- Optimize time-to-value: first API imported, first SDK generated, first integration tested
- Build lifecycle email/in-app messaging experiments that drive activation
3. Free-to-Paid Conversion Rate
- Experiment with pricing page variations, upgrade prompts, and feature gating
- Test trial extension offers, paywall placements, and conversion incentives
- Optimize for both self-serve (Lite/Business plan) and sales-assisted (Enterprise) conversion paths
- Collaborate with Sales to define product-qualified leads (PQLs) and handoff triggers
4. Retention & Engagement
- Monitor cohort retention curves and identify drop-off points
- Design re-engagement experiments for dormant users
- Test feature discovery mechanisms that drive habit formation
- Build win-back campaigns for churned trial users
What you will do:
Run the Experimentation Engine:
- Maintain a prioritized backlog of growth experiments based on data analysis
- Define hypotheses, success metrics, and experiment designs
- Work with Engineering to ship tests (landing pages, signup flows, email campaigns, in-product features)
- Analyze results, document learnings, and iterate
Be Deeply Analytical:
- Build and maintain dashboards tracking funnel metrics (using Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar)
- Conduct cohort analysis, funnel analysis, and conversion path analysis
- Use Mixpanel and MS Clarity to dig into user behavior data and identify optimization opportunities
- Present experiment results and growth insights to Product leadership
Collaborate Cross-Functionally:
- Partner with Engineering to ship experiments quickly
- Work with Design on landing pages, signup flows, and onboarding experiences
- Collaborate with Marketing on traffic quality and campaign optimization (you optimize where traffic lands)
- Partner with Sales to optimize SQL scoring and product-led sales handoffs
Requirements
Must-Haves
- 3-5 years of growth PM, growth marketing, or product experience with demonstrated impact on conversion metrics
- Proven track record of experimentation: You've run A/B tests, moved metrics, and have quantifiable results (e.g., "improved activation by X%")
- Strong analytical skills: Comfortable with analytics platforms (Mixpanel/Amplitude/GA) and statistical significance testing
- Experience with developer products or technical audiences: You understand how developers evaluate tools
- Self-managing execution: You identify opportunities, design experiments, and ship results independently
- Bias toward action and experimentation over lengthy planning cycles
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with lifecycle marketing tools (Customer.io, Braze, Iterable, HubSpot)
- Familiarity with APIs, SDKs, OpenAPI/Swagger, and developer workflows
- Background in PLG (product-led growth) companies or developer tools platforms
- Previous experience building growth functions from scratch
